Collection : Jesse Stuart (1906-1984) papers Date/Extent : 1930-1984, 55 linear feet Description : The collection of correspondence, manuscripts, diaries, and complete publications of the Kentucky author includes extensive material on permanent loan from the Jesse Stuart Foundation. Stuart maintained a voluminous correspondence with publishers, friends, colleagues and readers of all ages. This collection also includes Stuart’s letters to his wife, Naomi Dean Norris during their courtship from 1931 to 1940, and the typescript of his first book, the autobiographical Man with a Bull-tongue Plow (1934) and manuscripts of the unpublished "Cradle of the Copperheads" and "Egyptian Journals."
